The Verdict

Dang -- I have such a soft spot for ROG based motherboards. They never ever disappointed me and yeah, that really sums up the conclusion on this Maximum III Gene motherboards already. It's nearly stinking perfect.

So what you guys need to remember is that this is an mATX motherboard, there's less room for extra's on there. Why would you buy an mATX motherboard then you ask ? Well, LAN gamers for example like a small chassis and easy to carry around PC. Other people just like a small PC on their desktop, it's about preference and choices. With the Maximum III Gene ASUS built a nearly perfect motherboard, the PCB is stuffed full with goodies. We have SLI availability, extensive USB connectivity, we can equip up-to 16GB of memory, get Gigabit Ethernet and really that's just the basics. When you look in the BIOS after a second or two you'll feel something moving down their in your trousers out of excitement. The BIOS for a mATX motherboard offers a Walhalla of functions and tweak options.

If you are not comfortable with manual overclocking, then just hit CPU Level UP in the BIOS and easily clock that processor towards 3.5 GHz on the fly. Memory likewise it's that kind of flexibility that makes this motherboard so grand.

The ROG addition motherboards lure the Guru3D.com audience, it's a perfect match -- it's that simple. This is what you, me and everybody else would like to see in our PCs alright -- it is such a well tested and well thought through series. Yeah, from ground up this motherboard was designed to set a new standard. Much can be said about this motherboard, but let me just cut it down and trim this conclusion a bit as you already can understand the generic consensus.

From ground up good stuff, ASUS did a splendid job. I would have liked to see a second Ethernet connector, but yeah .. that's it really all I can think of. Need I say more ?

We don't like the Maximum III Gene at all, no Sir. We adore it and as such is worth the money you need to put down on the table. if you are in the market for an mATX motherboard, look no further.
