Colin McRae Dirt 2 VGA Graphics performance review

Image quality settings

So what you'll learn with Dirt2 is that the graphics engine is not at all demanding a hefty graphics card. Turn on all and every possibly image quality setting and rock on. Any slightly modern graphics card will return a really nice fluid frame rate with great image quality.

We'll test at the following resolutions:

  • 1280x1024
  • 1600x1200
  • 1920x1200
  • 2560x1600

This covers the entire scope of important resolutions with common once as 1920x1080(HDTV) being very close to 1920x1200.

You'll notice that we will test the game at no less than 8xMSAA (multi-sample Anti Aliasing). All eye candy features for both the DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 codepath are enabled. We keep post processing at medium -- the rest is maxed out.

You'll notice what an extremely environment rich and detailed game Dirt2 offers. Look at intricate little details, the number of people next to the track, caravans, tents.
