Enermax Aurora Micro Wireless HTPC keyboard review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by John A. Johnsen | Published: December 18, 2009

Final Words and Verdict

Targeting HTPC aficionado's, Enermax rolled out its Aurora Micro Wireless keyboard. The Aurora Micro is absolutely an interesting product for the average cough potato alright (me included). Not only is it the best HTPC keyboard's we've seen in a while, it's also reasonably priced (for this kind of quality). When you search this product you'll be able to spot it for roughly 75 USD/EUR, and that is a fair price considering the build-quality, functionality and materials used. It is not a flimsy plastic HTPC keyboard in your living room, no -- it's a stylish peripheral.

For HTPC aficionado's it's of course a very handy keyboard. Also for more generic usage on that 1920x1080P screen the keyboard offers you a little more functionality. You can easily browse the web with it, startup programs, select files, insert a weblink etc. These are the advantages of a HTPC keyboard. The keyboard would function as a normal keyboard just as well though. Or heck, perhaps you like to game on the big-screen, what's more handy than a keyboard sitting on your lap that is responsive and has a nice large reach. One downside has to be mentioned though, the usage of aluminum is great, but do expect some smudges and fingerprints on that coating.

So overall we feel the the layout is good, the keyboard is handy, easy to use and the wireless range is excellent. The keyboard is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000.

Gear like this makes generic and specific usage of a HTPC just a lot more straightforward as you'll gain a lot of functionality along with comfort and design.

Bottom line: for a reasonable amount of money you get a handy, nice looking good range angle independent HTPC keyboard. Build quality is great, looks & design is good, functionality even better. If you like to have a keyboard instead of a remote, look no further -- the Enermax Aurora Micro comes very much recommended.
