With today’s CPUs being faster and faster, it is only logical to need better, more efficient cooling for them, especially if someone doesn’t want to, or can’t go with water cooling (which it is the majority of the users so far ;) )
Today we will be checking out on a new cooler from Gigabyte which is aimed at those that want a silent cooler for their CPU, but one which can still pack a punch.
In General
Gigabyte has a new CPU cooler which is an updated version of its previous “3D Rocket” design. The cooler has two fans actually. One on top which is illuminated by four small, bright blue LEDs, and one on the bottom that is one of your more normal slim fans found on reference coolers. The top fan actually blows air away from the cooler and thus forces air to come in from around the fins. The bottom one blows air towards the motherboard and so is also forcing air from the fins to rush in. The bottom one is also helping with the cooling of surrounding components since the fins don’t touch the base. Four heatpipes extend away from the base and have the fins and fan placed on them. The cooler supports all currently used sockets. LGA775, 478 sockets from Intel, 939 and 754 from AMD and is also stated that is compatible with the Pentium Extreme edition 955/840 and AMD Athlon FX62 and AMD 64x2 5200+ which I guess means that it has a good cooling performance (on the box it says that it supports 150w).
