Phenom II X4 965 BE processor review test

Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Overclocking

Right, since this is a BE edition we can easily overclock the processor.

In AMD OverDrive you can simply max out the CPU voltage to 1.50V~155V and increase the multiplier. Play around with it, don't be afraid of a crash.

We used a simple 35 USD OCZ Vendetta 2 air-cooler and reached 4000 MHz stable. If you use a decent cooler or even better, water-cooling really; 3800-4000 MHz should not be an issue.

So here we have an overview of the processor clocked at roughly 4000 MHz. You'll agree with me that this is a very extensive overclock based on an air CPU cooler. You can click on the image to get a big screenshot btw.

This is the performance control screen where you can see all primary variables and adjust them. Everything can be adjusted on the fly. This is the performance control screen showing the tweakable variables.

Be sure to check out the CPU temperatures in the screenshot.
