 Smooth Creations Firestorm review

By: Brann Mitchell Edited by Hilbert Hagedoorn | Published: April 8, 2010

  • What: SmoothCreations Firestorm Game PC
  • Price: $3800USD

I probably don’t need to do much introduction for SmoothCreations.  By now, you should know that since 1999 Jim Saling and Company have been producing some very interesting and unique machines with custom paint jobs and matching performance.  Their handiwork is often displayed at trade shows, their latest being for the Far Cry 2 and Saboteur games, or for hardware vendors like BFGTech and Intel.  You know, SmoothCreations is a small boutique builder.

Today we have in the lab another way cool computer by SmoothCreations, the Firestorm.  We previously marveled at the LANShark, a small and feisty machine that was not only fast, the Stacking Skulls paint job alone could scare your opponents into submission.  Even through the intertubes.  Yeah, that machine we liked.

This time around, SmoothCreations went even smaller than the LANShark with the Firestorm.  The Firestorm is unmistakably a SmoothCreations machine.  Built around the same basic set of components as the LANShark, but the Firestorm adds even more to stoke the fire, so to speak.  It does have a few flaws, but we’ll get to those in due time.

Please, throw on your nomex smoking jacket (I’m getting my pants on), put your feet up, and let’s get close to the Firestorm.

Grab your nomex, looks like you just might need it.
