Installing an HDD into the tray is a matter of properly aligning the drive with the screw holes. The drive is seated into rubber mounts preventing them from making noise / resonating.

HDD installation is tool free, you push a clip, and once the HDD is properly in position you move the clip to the left or right securing the HDD. The processes can be a little frustrating aligning the holes and everything.

Here we are looking at the innards of one drive-bay. You slide in the HDD tray and click it secure, as simple as that.

Once seated the HDD secure the latch and you should be ready to go. Now some remarks here. The idea and implementation of the HDD storage model is fun, relatively easy but most of all handy. Unfortunately the trays are made completely out of plastic and as such they are horribly fragile.

By removing the HDD I already managed to damage the tray at the first try. The HDD was a little stuck, and while pulling out the tray the spring already jumped away and I noticed a small piece of plastic break off. So be warned, this design is really delicate and that's definitely something Zalman must improve in future generations of this design.

All-in-all we feel the MS1000-HS2 is a stunning chassis in design -- and it's darn handy as well. Let's head on over to the conclusion.
